Ms. O'Dwyer is a member of the Chattanooga and Tennessee Bar Associations (Vice President of Women's Conference, 1974) and the Chattanooga Trial Lawyers Association (Treasurer, 1974).  She is also a current board member of the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (past Secretary, second Vice-Chair, first Vice-Chair and Chair of the Railroad Law Section; Section Leaders Council member).  An active leader in American Trial Lawyers, Ms. O'Dwyer has served for the last two years on the ATLA Sections and Leadership Committies.  Ms. O'Dwyer is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association and was inducted into the tribe of the Best Lawyers in America in 1999/2000.  Ms. O'Dwyer has been a member of the Chattanooga Community Housing Resource Board since its inception in 1982 (President, 1989 to 1994) and is currently a member of the advisory board to the Bluff View Art District and of the City of Chattanooga Variance Board.

As an advocate of railroad safety, Ms. O'Dwyer completed the course, Railroad Track Inspection and Safety Standards at the University of Tennessee in November of 1996.  She was a featured speaker on Railroad liability at the Association of Trial Lawyers of America conventions in 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000 presented to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and to Secretary of Transportation, Federico Peņa in 1995.  She also presented in October of 1998 and 2000 at the International Symposium on Railroad Crossing Safety.

Ms. O'Dwyer is also an accomplished poet, publishing four books of poetry:  Drowned Woman, Unbound Woman, Out of Bounds, and Tiz Ourselves.
